Health minister Zahid Maleque on a daily online bulletin on Thursday asked all health services officials not to make any statement without permission of higher authorities.
'Making such statements trigger confusion,' he said.
He issued the warning after news reports that the government was preparing the Sheikh Russel National Gastroliver Institute and Hospital for treating VIPs who might contract COVID-19. The minister said that the news was not true.
He also said that no hospital in Bangladesh was put under lockdown.
