Shimulia ferry point crowded with Dhaka-bound passengers

Huge crowd of Dhaka-bound passengers was seen on Shimulia-Kathalbari ferry service on Wednesday morning.

Mawa river police outpost in-charge Shirajul Islam said that at about 10:00am Ro-Ro ferry Shah Paran and dumb ferry Ramsing left Kathalbari terminal and reached Shimulia terminal.

More than 500 people were in the two ferries, most of them garment workers heading towards Dhaka, he added.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation Shimulia terminal deputy general manager Md Shafiqul Islam said that there was not much traffic, however, passengers were in a rush.

He added that most of the passengers came on trawlers and the trawlers anchored on the shoals of the river where the passenger got down.
