BNP postpones golden jubilee programmes up to March 30

Bangladesh Nationalist Party has decided to postpone its pre-scheduled programme marking the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence till March 30, for the sudden rise in coronavirus infection rate across the country.

The convener of the golden jubilee celebration committee, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, made the announcement at a press conference at the party chairperson’s Gulshan office on Wednesday.

Mosharraf said that the COVID-19 situation across the country was deteriorating.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alagir while addressing the press conference, said that as a responsible political party, they had decided to postpone the programme.

He urged all to follow the health guidelines.

He also urged the government to stop all programmes and take proper steps to bring the situation under control.

Member secretary of the celebration committee Abdus Salam, and publicity secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anne also attended the press conference, among others.

The pre-scheduled programmes included discussion meeting on March 25, procession on March 26 and rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on March 30.
