JaPa in no alliance: Chunnu

Jatiya Party secretary general Mujibul Haque Chunnu on Saturday said that his party did not belong to any alliance but it was in favour of common people.

Chunnu said this at a press briefing after a meeting of the party presidium members including its lawmakers at Banani office of the party.

‘After the general election in 2018, the Jatiya Party was not in any alliance. We are not with the Awami League, nor with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party,’ he said.

Chunnu claimed that there was no split in the Jatiya Party and they did not convene any national conference.

Referring to the national conference of the party convened on November 26 by its chief patron Raushan Ershad, the JP leader said that she had no right to convene such a conference.

A total of 38 presidium members of the party, out of 41, and 20 lawmakers, out of 26, were present in the meeting on Saturday, he added.

He added that party chairman Golam Mohammad Quader presided over the meeting.
