1,900 BNP men sued over Nayapaltan clash

More than 1,900 BNP leaders and activists have been sued over yesterday's clash between the party men and police at Nayapaltan.

Of the accused, 473 were named and 1,500 unnamed in the case filed with Paltan Police Station, according to police.

Police filed the case with Paltan Police Station against 473 named and 1,500 unnamed people.

They include BNP leaders Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie, Amanullah Aman and Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas.

Meanwhile, police produced 450 of the accused before a Dhaka court, seeking seven-day remand for 11 of them.

Biplob Kumar Sarker, joint commissioner (operations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told reporters that more cases will be filed with Paltan and Motijheel police stations over the incident.

A man was killed and over 50 others, including four journalists, were injured in the clash in Nayapaltan area yesterday afternoon.

Police later picked up Rizvi, Annie, Aman and Shimul near the BNP office.
