Don’t bring out ‘mass procession’ in Dhaka on Dec 24: Quader to BNP

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today urged the BNP not to bring out "mass procession" in Dhaka on December 24 as it coincides with his party's national council.

"Don't instigate disturbances... Our leaders and activists will arrive from all over the country (ahead of the council). We don't want confrontation," he said.

Quader was addressing a press conference at the party president's political office in Dhanmondi on the occasion of the party's 22nd national council.

The BNP announced holding the nationwide protest programmes on December 24 to press home its 10 point-demand, including elections under a non-partisan interim government.

Quader, also minister for road transport and bridges, said the party is going to hold the council in a very simple manner, keeping in mind the prevailing global crisis. But the gathering will be huge.
