BNP stages rally protesting court order to confiscate property of Tarique, Zubaida

BNP's Dhaka South city unit on Saturday brought a rally protesting Dhaka court's order that asked to confiscate movable and immovable property of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman in a corruption case.

The procession started in front of the BNP central office in Naya Paltan at 12 noon.

BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy led the procession.

Earlier on January 5, A Dhaka court ordered the confiscation of movable and immovable property of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman in a corruption case.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Md Asaduzzaman gave the order.

It also asked the officer -in-charge of Cantonment Police Station to submit the progress report of the confiscation by January 19.

Earlier on November 1, 2022, a court issued an arrest warrant against them

According to the case description, on 26 September in 2007, the ACC lodged the case with Kafrul Police Station for amassing properties worth Tk4,81,53,561 through illegal means and concealing information in wealth statements.
