BNP vows to force AL govt to resign through movement

The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday said that he was hopeful that the Awami League government would be compelled to resign from power facing the one-point demand of the opposition parties.

After holding a meeting with the members of the liaison committee of the Gono Forum faction and the Bangladesh People’s Party at Gulshan office of the BNP chairperson, Mirza Fakhrul said that they were hopeful as the people had become  united against the government.

‘After waging movements against the illegal government, we will be able to compel the government to resign from power before the next general election and to dissolve the parliament. The next general election will be held under a non-partisan neutral government,’ Mirza  Fakhrul said.
Mirza Fakhrul said that they believed that they would be able to restore democracy and democratic rule in the country and restore democratic rights of the people under a people’s government.

Mirza Fakhrul said that they were holding talks with the leaders of partners of simultaneous movements to finalise the one-point movement against the government and also preparing a joint declaration of the movement.

Gon Forum faction general secretary Subrata Chowdhury said that without a neutral government they would not participate in the next general election.

‘So, we are going for the one-point movement against the government to compel them to resign from power before the national election,’ Subrata said.

‘And we are going for such a movement soon’ Subrata added.
