Police attacked in a protest programme of BNP in Narayanganj district on Saturday.
Later, Detective Branch (DB) of police detained five BNP leaders of the party.
They were nabbed in Siddhirganj's Shimrail area on the highway on Saturday morning.
The arrestees included Narayanganj BNP Convener Advocate Shakhawat Hossain Khan and Narayanganj Metropolitan Jubo Dal's Sagar Pradhan, Siddhirganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Mostafa confirmed.
The identities of the other three could not be confirmed immediately. At the time of writing, police were firing teargas to disperse the crowd.
