Clash with police in Dholaikhal: 424 BNP leaders, activists sued

At least 424 BNP leaders and activists were sued in a case filed over yesterday's clash between the party men and police in Dhaka's Dholaikhal area.

Sub-inspector Nasir Udddin Howlader filed the case with Sutrapur Police Station yesterday.

Of them, 24 persons including BNP executive committee member Nipun Roy Chowdhury were named in the first information report while the rest were unnamed, said Moinul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sutrapur Police Station.

Police so far arrested five people in the case, he added.

Yesterday, hundreds of BNP men gathered on the road at Dholaikhal in Old Dhaka to stage a sit-in. As police tried to disperse them, a clash took place.

Several persons including BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy were beaten by police while BNP men threw brick chunks at the law enforcers.
