BNP won’t be allowed to stand on streets in 36 days: AL

Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party will not be allowed to stand on the streets during the 36 days of AL’s ultimatum.

‘We have served the ultimatum of 36 days till the entire month of October. We will not allow BNP to stand on the streets during those 36 days. All the streets will be taken over by the soldiers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,’ said Quader in his chief guest’s address at a ‘development and peace rally’ held in the Safiuddin Sarker Academy and College field at Tongi in Gazipur.

The rally was organsied by AL Gazipur district unit as part of the ruling camp’s series programmes announced in a counter move following a 48-hour ultimatum to the government from the BNP to release party chairperson Khaleda Zia and allow her to go abroad for advanced medical treatment.

He said that Sheikh Hasina could not be ousted through a disorganised alliance.

He also urged BNP to oil their own machine as Trinamool BNP has been formed, warning that many more organisations like Trinamool might prop up soon.

‘We urge America to control Trump and then others,’ he said.

AL presidium member Abdur Rahman and joint general secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and AFM Bahauddin Nasim, among others, spoke at the rally.
