Fakhrul appeals to HC seeking bail

The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday filed a petition with the High Court seeking bail in a case filed over the attack on the residence of Chief Justice in Dhaka.

He filed the petition with the High Court bench led by Justice Md Selim. BNP secretary general's lawyer Gazi Kamrul Islam Sajal confirmed the matter.

Earlier on November 22, the High Court rejected the bail petition filed by the BNP secretary general in the case.

On October 28, police filed a case with Ramna Police Station for attacking and vandalizing the Chief Justice's residence during a BNP rally.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas and 59 other leaders and activists were made accused in the case.
