BNP engages in orderly, nonviolent politics : Moyeen Khan

BNP Standing Committee Member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan has said his party practises orderly, nonviolent politics, vowing to remain on the streets.

“Who would be elected and who would not - these were decided before the election,” he said as the chief guest at a blanket distribution program in front of the National Press Club on Friday.

Nationalist Textile Engineers Association of Bangladesh organized the event on the occasion of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman's birth anniversary.

“This government has built the metro rail, Padma Bridge, Karnaphuli tunnel by spending thousands of crores of taka. Then why can they not give blankets to the poor?” Moyeen Khan asked.

“We boycotted the election, and our aim is to restore democracy in the country,” he added.

“Those in favour of the current government have been saying that Bangladesh is the fastest developing country in the world. So I would like to ask why we have to stand in front of the Press Club in this rapidly developing country to distribute blankets to poor people.”

The BNP leader claimed the world is aware of the farcical election. “Millions of people in Bangladesh boycotted the election. Not only the BNP but also many voters of the Awami League criticized the election.”

Bangladesh was founded to provide economic freedom to impoverished people, he said, adding: “We will not allow the country we freed with blood go to waste.”
