Main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party-backed general secretary candidate in the Supreme Court Bar Association election and a former GS of the association, Barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kajal, was arrested at Paltan in the captal Saturday evening while the SCBA election’s vote counting was in progress.
Kajal, earlier in the day, raised allegation of vote stuffing in the election.
Ramna crime division deputy commissioner Ashraful Islam said on Saturday that he was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department.
Earlier, he along with another secretary candidate and several other lawyers were prosecuted in a case of attempt to murder, filed by a lawyer.
‘The case was transferred to DB for investigation but, meanwhile, CID arrested him,’ said Ashraful Islam.
Earlier in the day, at least five lawyers were arrested in the case of ‘attempt to murder’ during Friday’s scuffle while counting ballots of SCBA election.
