BB bans journalists to hide Awami League’s looting: BNP

The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party said on Sunday that Bangladesh Bank restricted entry of journalists to the central bank to hide corruption and looting of the people close to the ruling Awami League.

‘Journalists are prohibited from entering the bank due to this looting and corruption. The bank has made the decision so that journalists cannot get information about it as those who are guilty want to hide their information,’ BNP senior secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said at a brief rally in front the party Naya Paltan central office.

Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal organised the rally demanding release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, and former Juba Dal and Chhatra Dal leaders Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohail and Abdul Qadir Bhuiyan Jewel.

Rizvi said that the people of nationalist forces, who speak the truth, were in jail today.

‘Those who are robbing banks, looting rivers and canals are roaming around the country freely as they all belong to the ruling party, this is proven,’ he said.

If this government remains in power, they will sell the houses of the people of the country, said the BNP leader, adding that whether such a corrupt government will remain in power is a matter to be seen.

Among others, BNP organising secretary Abdus Salam Azad, joint economic affairs secretary Mahmudur Rahman Sumon, Juba Dal vice-president Zakir Hossain Siddiqui and Chhatra Dal former acting president Rashed Iqbal Khan spoke at the rally.
