Situation will change soon: Dr Kamal

Dhaka, Aug 9 (Just News): Gano Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain on Thursday hoped that the country's current situation will change very soon with people's united efforts.

"The country must be freed from the grip of those indulging in misdeeds. It's not a tough job if we all get united. It happened many times in the past. It'll happen again very soon," he said.

Speaking at a discussion, the veteran politician also urged people to seriously think about forging a unity to bring a change in the country, restore democracy, the rule of law and properly build the country. "I think we'll get good response from people if we can move with these goals."

Jatiya Nagorik Oikya Prokria, a pro-BNP platform to forge a national unity, arranged the programme at the Jatiya Press Club.

Dr Kamal said no one could think that Bangladesh would be liberated only through a nine-month battle in 1971. "We came out successful as we're united."

He alleged that the current 'autocratic' government is destroying the nation's all achievements. "The autocratic regime will be forced to leave the country if we get united."

The Gano Forum president also said the recent student movement seeking safe roads was very spontaneous one due to unity among the demonstrators.

Referring to HM Ershad's fall in 1990, he said people put up a strong resistance against him and brought a change as he crossed limit of tolerance level.

"It won't be possible to restore democracy depending on any particular leader. We must unite people to do that," he added.
