A Dhaka court has accepted the charge sheet against Prothom Alo’s Editor Matiur Rahman and nine others in a case filed over the death of school student Nayeemul Abrar.
Judge KM Imrul Kayesh, of the Metropolitan Session Judge Courts' in Dhaka took the charge sheet into cognizance on Thursday in presence of the accused.
The court also set October 13 for the hearing of charge framing against the accused in the case.
On November 1, 2019, Nayeemul was electrocuted by a power generator on the premises of his school Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC), during an anniversary celebration organized by Prothom Alo’s youth magazine Kishor Alo.
In a case filed over Nayeemul’s death, his father Md Mojibur Rahman accused the organizers of negligence that led to the incident.
The accused include - Prothom Alo’s Editor Matiur Rahman, youth magazine Kishor Alo’s Editor Anisul Hoque and Prothom Alo employees Kabir Bakul, Shuvashish Pramanik Shuvo, Md Mahitul Alam Pavel, and Shah Paran Tushar.

He also accused Kishor Alo and the school authorities of concealing the information of Nayeemul's death, and continuing the program despite the tragic incident.
Mojibur alleged that the organizers took Nayeemul to Universal Medical College Hospital instead of the nearby Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, denying him proper medical attention after the incident.
On January 16, a Dhaka court issued warrants of arrest against 10 over Nayeemul's death. Acting Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Kaisarul Islam gave the order after Mohammadpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Alim, also the case investigation officer, submitted the investigation report.
The four other accused are -- Jasim Uddin, Mosharraf Hossain, Sujan, and Kamrul Hawlader.
Matiur, along with Anisul - who is also the Prothom Alo’s deputy editor - and the four other accused filed their bail pleas with the High Court on January 19.
