One person was killed and four others injured during a collision between a train and a covered van at Kalihati of Tangail Friday morning.
Bangabandhu Bridge East police station officer-in-charge Kazi Ayubur Rahman said that Dhaka-bound Sirajganj Express train from Sirajganj reached Hatia of Kalihati at about 8:00am when a North Bengal-bound covered van lost control and hit the train.
The driver of the covered van was killed on the spot while four others were injured, he added.
Rezaul Karim, station master of Bangabandhu Bridge East railway station, said that the incident disrupted rail communication between Dhaka and North Bengal for an hour.
Rail communication commenced after the train was removed from the line, he added.
