Legality of Sinha murder case filed by sister challenged

A review petition was filed with the Cox’s Bazar Judge Court on Sunday challenging the legality of the murder case filed by Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous, the sister of slain retired army major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan.

Suspended police inspector Liakat, also the prime accused in the murder case, filed the petition.

The court’s public prosecutor Faridul Alam said that Justice Md Ismail accepted the case and fixed October 20 for a hearing in this connection.

Sinha, 36, who took early retirement from the Bangladesh Army in November 2018, was shot dead at a police checkpoint on Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive at Shamlapur on July 31.

Sinha’s sister Sharmin filed a murder case with the judicial magistrate court in Cox’s Bazar on August 5 accusing nine police personnel.
