ISPs reach agreement with DSCC, withdraw internet shutdown

Internet service providers and cable operators have withdrawn their decision to shut down their services across the country as they reached an agreement with the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) today.

The Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) and The Cable Operators Association of Bangladesh (COAB) took the decision after a meeting with the Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh.

The meeting took place at the Nagar Bhaban this noon.

"The mayor assured us that DSCC will stop removing our cables from now on. So, we have withdrawn our shutdown," MA Hakim, president of ISPAB, told today.

"Moreover, we don't have to seek permission from the DSCC to dig the roads to replace our cables underground," he added.
