Another accused of Pallabi murder case killed in gunfight with DB

A man who was accused in a case filed over stabbing another man to death in front of the victim’s son in Pallabi area in Dhaka, was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Detective Branch of police early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Monir Hossain, sixth accused in the case.

Pallabi police sub-inspector Aklima Akhter said that the gunfight took place around 2:30am. The body was sent to a hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations.

Police said that the gunfight took place in Sagufta Housing Area among DB members and the accused of the murder case during a police raid.

On May 16, a group of attackers attacked Shahin Uddin in front of his son. They stabbed him indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot.

A CCTV camera, installed nearby, recorded the incident. In the CCTV footage, Monir Hossain was seen stabbing Shahin indiscriminately with sharp weapons. Later, the incident went viral on social media.

Earlier, another accused of the murder case, Manik, was killed in another ‘gunfight’ with the Rapid Action Battalion in Eastern Housing area of the capital's Pallabi on early Friday.
