CTTC arrests Mufti Amir Hamza for spreading extremism

The Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police today arrested Mufti Amir Hamza on charges of misinterpreting religion and spreading extremism through waz.

Mufti Amir Hamza was arrested by a CTTC team from Kushtia this noon during a drive, CTTC chief Md Asaduzzaman told.

The CTTC chief said investigation in a case filed against Mufti Amir Hamza is going on. He was arrested from Kushtia today on the basis of evidence in that case. He is being brought to the CTTC office.

He will be interrogated regarding the misinterpretation of religion and spread of extremism, added Md Asaduzzaman.
