Covid-19 claims 172 more, infects 7,248 in Bangladesh

Bangladesh recorded an additional Covid death of 172 more people and 7,248 infections in 24 hours until Wednesday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 24,719 and infections to 14,40,644 since it had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 17.67 per cent.

Among the deceased, 94 are male and 78 are female patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 41,014 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 707 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 85,21,828 samples as of August 18.

In the past 24 hours, 12,112 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 13,27,028.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 67 and Chattogram logged 47 deaths.
