E-orange scam: Bangladesh police officer arrested in India

A Bangladesh police inspector posted in Dhaka Metropolitan Police and named as an accused in a case related to an e-commerce firm, e-orange, was arrested in India on Friday by the Indian Border Security Force on the charge of trespassing.

The inspector, Sheikh Sohel Rana, was posted at Banani police station as the inspector (investigation) until Thursday.

BSF North Bengal on their verified twitter handle posted on Saturday that on specific information, alert troops of the 148 battalion apprehended the inspector of Dhaka Metropolitan Police while he was trying to cross the international border ‘illegally’.

He was arrested at a place in India near the Nepal border on Friday with foreign currencies, a Bangladesh passport, toiletries and a satchel, among others.

Sohel Rana of Gopalganj used to serve diplomatic enclave in the capital’s Gulshan area nearly a decade in various capacities and maintained relations with the different diplomatic and non-diplomatic stuff.
