HC seeks Evaly documents to decide on forming board of directors

The High Court today sought documents to examine whether a board of directors can be formed to run Evaly Limited properly.

The court ordered the registrar of the joint stock companies and firms to produce all the relevant documents before it on October 12.

The court bench of Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar passed the order during a hearing on an application filed by an Evaly customer, Md Farhad Hossen, seeking the necessary directives for winding up the company and settling the issue.

The bench also fixed October 12 for passing further orders on the issue.

Farhad's lawyer, Sayed Mahsib Hossain, told that the HC bench today wanted to examine Evaly Limited's documents as his client has appealed to the court for the formation of a board of directors until it winds up.

He said that HC's earlier directive, restraining the selling and transferring of Evaly's assets, will remain in force till further order.

Md Farhad had ordered a washing machine from Evaly in May and made payment through mobile financial services provider bKash and Nagad.

He did not get the product nor a refund in four months, which prompted him to take the legal route, his lawyer Sayed Mahsib Hossain said.
