Cricketer Nasir’s marriage ‘illegal’, says PBI

A Dhaka court today ordered cricketer Nasir Hossain, his wife Tamima Sultana Tammi and her mother Sumi Akhter to appear before it on October 31 after Police Bureau of Investigation submitted a report terming the couple's marriage "illegal".

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim passed the order.

Earlier, PBI Inspector Sheikh Mizanur Rahman submitted an investigation report to the court that said Nasir and Tamima's marriage was not "legal".

The report also contains allegations against Tamima's mother Sumi Akter.

On February 24, Md Rakib Hasan, who claims he is still married to Tamima, filed a case against Nasir accusing him of adultery and defamation. The court took cognisance of the case and handed over the investigation to the PBI.

According to the PBI report submitted today, the divorce documents of Tamima and Rakib were forged.
