Met office forecasts light to moderate rain

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) Friday predicted that light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind may occur at different parts of the country within 24 hours as of 9 am Saturday.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions," the met office said in a 24 hours weather forecast commencing at 9 am Friday.

Day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country, it said.

The highest temperature on Thursday was recorded 35.8 degrees Celsius at Sylhet in Sylhet division and today's minimum temperature was 24.0 degrees Celsius at Sitakunda in Chittagong division.

Maximum rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 17 millimeters (mm) at Dimla in Rangpur division.

The sun sets at 5:46 pm Friday and rises at 5:51 am Saturday in Dhaka.
