Bangladesh reports 24 more Covid deaths

Covid claimed the lives of 24 more people and infected 589 others in Bangladesh in 24 hours ending Saturday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 27,555 and infections to 15,57,347 since the country had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 3.41 per cent.

Among the deceased, 15 are male and nine are female patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 17,283 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 821 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 97,73,244 samples as of October 2.

In the past 24 hours, 741 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 15,17,641.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 15 people while four died of Covid-19 in Chattogram.
