Covid kills 5 more, infects 1,298 in Bangladesh

Covid-19 claimed the lives of five more patients and infected 1,298 others across Bangladesh in 24 hours ending Wednesday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 28,995 and infections to 19,38,135 since the country had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

All the deaths in 24 hours ending Wednesday morning were reported in Dhaka division.

The day’s test positivity rate is 5.58 per cent.

Of the deceased, four are male patients and the remaining one is a female patient.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 23,274 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country while Bangladesh had tested 1,32,83,785 samples as of February 23.

During the reporting period, a total of 8,072 patients were recovered from the infection. With this, a total of 17,79,687 people recovered from the viral disease.

The release said that a total of four patients died in government hospitals and another one died in non-government hospitals during the reporting period.
