Sust students protest murder of ex-fellow

Dhaka, Mar 27 (Just News): Students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) have been staging a sit-in blocking a road in Sylhet city protesting the murder of the university’s former student Mahid Al Salam.

Mahid was stabbed dead by muggers in Kadamtali bus stand area in the city early yesterday when he was on way to Dhaka to attend a job interview.

Taking position on the road in front of Central Shaheed Minar in Chouhatta area around 12noon today, about 500 students chanted slogans demanding punishment of Mahid’s killers, reports our Sylhet correspondent.

Local leaders of ruling Awami League and BNP also joined the demonstration taking position on the road.

Mahid, son of late freedom fighter Abdus Salam, was a student of Economics department at Sust. He was also an activist of Sylhet Ganajagaran Mancha.
