2 dead in road accidents in Dhaka’s Gulshan and Rampura

Two persons died in two separate road accidents in Dhaka's Gulshan and Rampura areas early today.

The deceased are: Abdul Latif (48), a vegetable seller, and Sadman Sakib (31), a private service holder.

Latif, on a vegetable carrying pick-up van, was heading towards Norda area from Karwan Bazar around 5:00am. He sustained head injuries when the van hit a road divider, said his brother-in-law Manik Mia.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he breathed his last around 9:00am, said inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost.

Hailing from Kishorganj, he lived with his family in Norda area.

Meanwhile, Sakib sustained critical injuries after being hit by a covered-van as he was crossing the road near Rampura BTV Station around 5:30am to go to his office, said Sazzad Hossain, a sub-inspector of Rampura Police Station.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 6:00am, he said.

Police seized the covered van and detained its driver, the SI said.

Hailing from Bogura, he used to live in Khilkhet area.
