Students of seven colleges on Wednesday gathered in New Market area and formed a human chain protesting against the attack on Dhaka College students by traders and police.
All the shops and markets in the area remained closed on the day.
Vehicle movements were limited in the area.
The students, later, brought out a procession protesting against the attack.
The Dhaka College students rejected the authorities’ decision on closure.
Students of Dhaka College and traders of New Market and its adjacent areas were locked in a series of clashes in the city on Monday night and Tuesday, leaving at least one dead and around 100 people injured.
