Mild to moderate heat wave likely to spread across Bangladesh

The Met Office has asked the public to brace for hot weather ahead as a mild to moderate heat wave sweeping over Khulna division and the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Gopalganj and Patuakhali may continue and spread.

“Day temperature may rise by 1-2°C and night temperature may rise slightly over the country in next 24 hours," said a bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) commencing 6pm on Saturday.

In the subsequent two days, day and night temperature may rise, said BMD in an extended outlook.

However, rain or thundershowers with intense lightning flashes accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Mymensingh, Dhaka, Sylhet, Chittagong, and Rangpur divisions with hails at isolated places, said the forecast.

The weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, it said.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 39.5°C today in Chuadanga.
