Four people were killed and five others injured in separate rain-triggered landslides in Chattogram city early today (June 18, 2022).
The first landslide occurred around 1: 00 am in the port city's Barishal Ghona area and the other around 3:00 am in the Bijoy Nagar area of Foy's Lake, Officer-in-Charge of Akbar Shah Police Station, Wali Uddin Akbar, confirmed the information.
"A fire service team went to Barishal Ghona area and rescued 5 people and sent them to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Shahinur Akhter (28) and Mainur Akhter (24) were declared dead by on-duty doctors," said the OC.
"Upon receiving the news, the members of the fire service went to Bijoy Nagar area around 3:00 am and carried out rescue work. Two people named Liton (23) and Emon (14) were found dead," Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence Assistant Director Farooq Hossain Sikder told.
