Any tension with US Embassy will be resolved diplomatically: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said that if there is any tension with the US Embassy in Dhaka, it will be resolved through diplomacy.

Obaidul Quader said, "The US is our friend. I assure everyone, including the US, that there is no shortage of security for diplomats in Bangladesh. Everyone is safe here."

Referring to the BNP, he asked, "Why do you make demands? If there is any tension with the US Embassy, we will speak with them. Who are you to ask?"

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, came up with the remarks while speaking at a brief rally held at the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) prior to the AL's "victory procession" on the occasion of the 52nd Victory Day.

Last Wednesday, US Ambassador to Dhaka Peter Haas paid a visit to the residence of BNP leader Sajedul Islam, who has been missing for nearly a decade, in the capital's Shaheenbagh.

While he was leaving the house, a group of people tried to surround him under the banner of an organisation called "Mayer Kanna."

The ambassador was escorted out by security personnel. Subsequently, he met with Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen and voiced concerns about his safety.
