2 Chhatra Odhikar Parishad leaders 'picked up by men in plainclothes'

Two leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad were allegedly picked up by men in plainclothes from the capital's Gulistan area this evening.

The leaders are Engineer Mohammad Akhteruzzaman, deputy science and technology affairs secretary of the organisation and Nazmul Huda, organising secretary of Suhrawardy College unit Chhatra Odhikar Parishad.

They were picked up at 6:40pm from Fulbaria area by men in plainclothes who introduced them as members of the Detective Branch, according to a press released signed by Bin Yamin Mollah, president of Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad.

The release added that their mobile phones were ringing but no one is picking up.

A scuffle ensued between the leaders and the men in plainclothes but later they were picked up in a pickup, read the release.

DB Chief Harun Or Rashid said that he is not aware of the incident yet.

"I will give the details once it is available," he added.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad is schedule to hold an emergency press conference in this regard at the Pritam Zaman Tower in Purana Paltan at 9:00pm tonight, the press release also read.
