BHBUC to hold march towards PMO on January 7

Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council will hold a march towards the Prime Minister’s Office on Saturday to press home their demand of implementation of election pledges given for the minorities in the election manifesto of last general elections held on December 30, 2018.

The leaders and activists of the religious minority organisation will reach Dhaka on January 6 holding march towards Dhaka and then they would gather at Shahbagh on January 7, and will hold a march towards the Prime Minister’s Office at 4:00pm and hand over a memorandum to the PM to press their demands.

The organisation general secretary Rana Dashgupta, addressing a press conference at the National Press Club on Wednesday, announced the demonstration programme and said that the Awami League government did not implement most of the election pledges given in the election manifesto of 2018 general elections.

The pledges included enacting a law to protect the minorities, formation of Jatiya Minority Council, enacting law to end discriminations, speedy implementation of vested property law, speedy implementation of CHT peace treaty, Rana Dashgupta said.

Central leaders of BHBCUC Neem Chandra Bhowmik, Subrata Chowdhury and Kazal Debnath, among others, attended the press conference.
