IU postpones three recruitment boards over VC’s leaked audio clip

The authorities of Islamic University in Kushtia have postponed the recruitment boards of its three departments following the leak of three audio conversations between the university’s vice-chancellor and a job seeker on social media Facebook.

The decision was made at an emergency meeting of the university administration with IU vice-chancellor Professor Shaikh Abdus Salam in the chair.

A press release, signed by IU acting registrar HM Ali Hasan, was issued in this regard on Sunday morning.

The recruitment boards of the medical officer scheduled to be held on February 20, the board of the physical education and sports science department scheduled to be held on February 22 and the recruitment board of the mass communication and journalism department scheduled to be held on February 22 were postponed two days after three audio conversations between the vice-chancellor and a job seeker had gone viral on social media.

IU acting registrar HM Ali Hasan told New Age that they postponed the recruitment boards of the departments due to unavoidable reasons.

The date and time of these recruitment boards would be informed later, he added.

Earlier, a total of five audio conversations, three with Oliur and two others with an official of a ministry went viral on Facebook.

In the audio clip, the VC was heard asking Oliur to bring two other job seekers because it needs a quorum of at least three candidates to hold the recruitment test.

The vice-chancellor was also heard saying that Oliur failed to write answer to the question in the recruitment test held on October 25, 2022, and his IQ was not sound.

The vice-chancellor gave him some advice for the test as well.

IU acting registrar HM Ali Hasan filed a general diary with the Islamic University police station in this connection on Friday night.

Many senior progressive alliance teachers said that he had no right to share any recruitment test information to anyone as a vice-chancellor of the university.

The government and ministry concerned should look into the matter, they said.

If there was any involvement of the vice-chancellor with the audio clip he should be brought under the law, they added.
