The cabinet committee on government purchases in a meeting on Wednesday approved two proposals from Trading Corporation of Bangladesh to purchase 1.60 crore litres of soya bean oil.
The meeting presided over by finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal virtually approved TCB’s first proposal to buy 1.10 crore litres of soya ban oil from Meghna Edible Oil Refinery Ltd under a competitive bidding.
Meghna quoted price of per litre of soya bean oil at Tk 172.95, said additional secretary of the cabinet division Sayeed Mahbub Khan, at an online press briefing.
The second TCB proposal was purchase of 50 lahk litres of suya bean oil udder direct purchase method from UN Trading, Dhaka that will supply each liter of soya bean oil at Tk 172.8.
TCB has been purchasing soya bean oil to distribute those at subsidised rate to selected households.
