Security guard stabbed to death in Dhaka

A security guard was stabbed to death in Agargaon area of Bangladesh capital Dhaka on early Monday.

The deceased is Azim Sheikh, 55, a security guard of 59 West Agargaon Mia Tower. He was from Tangail district.

Imam Hossain, owner of an apartment in Mia Tower, said that a young man named Sagar, 18, who is a tenant at the building, was the perpetrator.

He said that Sagar locked into an altercation with security guard Azim at about 3:00am over opening the gate late at night.

At one stage, Sagar stabbed Azim with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured.

Azim was first taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital from where he was taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Sagar also suffered minor injuries during the scuffle and went to the hospital for treatment.

On information, police arrested Sagar from the hospital.

DMCH police outpost in-charge Md Bachchu Mia said that doctors at the department declared him dead at about 4:00am.

The body has been kept in the hospital mortuary for autopsy, he said.

He said that they informed Sher-e- Bangla Nagar police station about the matter.
