The police recovered the throat-slit body of a young man from a drain in a Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar’s Ukhiya upazila early on Saturday.

The deceased was Mohammad Mujib, 24, son of Obaidul Haque of Rohingya camp No 8 in Ukhiya.

Ukhiya police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Muhammad Ali said: “Local residents discovered the body and informed the community leaders, who then notified the Armed Police Battalion (APBn).”

“Upon receiving the information from the APBn, our police team went to the location and recovered the body. Later nearby Rohingya residents identified the deceased as Mujib,” he added.

The body was sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
