JS adopts condolence motion on deaths of Palestinians in Israeli attacks

The Jatiya Sangsad on Sunday adopted a condolence motion for the Palestinians who have been slain in the Israeli attack in Gaza and other areas of Palestine.

JS speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury raised the motion on the opening day of the final session of the 11th parliament.

In the condolence motion, the speaker said that the parliament deeply mourns the deaths of the children and other people killed in the recent barbaric attacks by Israeli occupation forces in Gaza and other places in Palestine and pray for the salvation of the departed souls. The JS also sends condolences to the bereaved members of the families who lost their loved ones, the speaker said in the motion.

The parliament also mourned the victims who died in the earthquakes in Morocco and Afghanistan, floods in Libya and in Sikkim of India.

Earlier on the day, a five-member panel chairman for the 25th session of the 11th Jatiya Sangsad has been nominated.

Speaker Shirin Sharmin gave the nomination at the beginning of the session as per the article 12(1) of the rules of procedure.

The panel members are—lawmakers Md Abdus Shahid of Maulvibazar-4, Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu of Borguna-1, Tanvir Shakil Joy of Sirajganj-1, Kazi Firoz Rashid of Dhaka-6 and Nargis Rahman of Women seat-25.

The panel members will chair the parliament sessions according to the seniority in absence of the speaker and deputy speaker.
