BGMEA doesn’t know details of apparel exports by flights from Israel

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association does not to know who have exported apparels by the two cargo flights that came to Dhaka directly from Tel Aviv in Israel or the details of the destinations of the exports.

BGMEA vice-president Abdullah Hil Rakib told New Age on Saturday that they heard that two US cargo aircraft had some empty spaces and ferried some apparel exports from Dhaka to Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates and a European country.

They also heard that the two cargo planes came from Tel Aviv to Dhaka, he said, adding that they had no more information about the matter.

The landing of two cargo flights at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka from Tel Aviv created controversies.

One of the two cargo flights landed in Dhaka on April 7 and departed after about four hours and a half. The other one landed on April 11 and departed on early Friday after about four hours and a half.

Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport executive director Group Captain Kamrul Islam told New Age on Friday that the flights came directly from Tel Aviv and the two cargo aircraft were registered in the United States.

Bangladesh has air service agreement, including open sky option, with the United States, he said.
He added that the cargo flights did not drop anything at Dhaka airport rather and only took apparels from RMG industries to Sharjah and other European destinations.

A senior official at the Civil Service Authority of Bangladesh, who is in the proses of approval of the flight schedule, said that officials from two top intelligence agencies inspected the two aircraft on arrival and they cleared those before the take-offs.-New Age
