Dhaka, Dec 8 (Just News): The United States Congressman William Richard Keating has placed a resolution in the House of Representatives urging political leaders and judicial authorities of Bangladesh to ensure free participation voters in upcoming national election.

The resolution also called upon the concerned people in Bangladesh to respect the will of voters and ensure the elections to be impartial and inclusive.

In a four-point resolution submitted on Thursday, the US congressman reaffirmed the commitment of the United States to promote free, fair, transparent and credible elections in Bangladesh.

The resolution "calls on the Government of Bangladesh to respect the freedom of speech and of the press and to heed the Bangladesh Election Commission’s request to ensure security for minorities and maintain communal harmony for a peaceful election."

The resolution commended the government and people of Bangladesh for their generosity in hosting Rohingya refugees despite the hardships associated with responding to this man-made humanitarian disaster created by the Burmese military and security force’s crimes against humanity and genocide against the Rohingya in Northern Rakhine State.

The resolution submitted by Keating was referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, said the full text of the second session at the US 115th Congress published on its website.
