3 RAB men, 2 informants picked up by BSF

Three members of Rapid Action Battalion and their two female informants were picked up by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) from the frontier in Brahmanpara upazila of Cumilla this morning, police said.

The incident took place along Ashabari border around 9:00am, our Cumilla correspondent reports.

Confirming the incident, Shahjahan Ali, officer-in-charge (OC) of Brahmanpara Police Station, said Rab members with their two women sources crossed the border line mistakenly while going to raid a house.

When they crossed the border line as that was not clearly marked, BSF troops picked them up, the OC said.

The elite force members are the member of CPC-2 of Rab-11, said assistant superintendent of police Mohitul Islam, in-charge of the CPC-2.

They were in Rab’s jackets when they crossed the border line, he said.

Mahbub Morshed, district intelligence officer-1, also confirmed the incident.

However, no official version from BGB is available in this regard till this afternoon.
