Khaleda Zia not getting proper treatment: Selima Islam

BNP Chairperson begum Khaleda Zia’s sister Selima Islam today claimed that the BNP chief is not getting treatment properly despite doctors come to meet her regularly.

“Physicians come to meet Khaleda Zia regularly but her health condition has not improved. She can’t eat and walk alone,” Selima told reporters after visiting ailing Khaleda Zia, who is now undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), this afternoon.

Selima Islam, her brother Shamim Iskander and three others met Khaleda Zia at BSMMU around 3:15pm and passed an hour with her.

After the meeting, Selima said the former prime minister needs better treatment as her health condition has deteriorated alarmingly.

Responding to a query, Selima said Khaleda Zia must go abroad for better treatment if she gets bail. “We want to send her abroad for better treatment,” she said.

On February 8 last year, Khaleda Zia was sent to jail as she was convicted in the Zia Orphanage Trust case. Later, she was convicted in the Zia Charitable Trust case.

The BNP leaders alleged that Khaleda Zia was denied of getting bail as the government influenced the court.
