Bangladesh Bank official, daughters killed in Ctg road crash

A Bangladesh Bank official and two of his daughters were killed while his wife and son were injured in a road crash at Fouzdarhat of Sitakunda upazila on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Saifuzzaman Mintu, 50, hailing from Nishchintopur village in Kachua upazila of Chandpur and his daughters Tasrin, 13, and Taspia, 14. The injured are – Mintu’s his wife Konika Begum, 35, and son Monti, 7.

Mintu was a deputy director of the bank.

Sub-Inspector Kawser of Baro Aulia Highway Police Station said that the accident took place in Bangla Bazar bypass intersection around 7:30am when a lorry hit two private cars.

Mintu and his family were in one of the cars. Tasrin and Taspia were killed on the spot.

The Bangladesh Bank official died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital around 11am, said Sub-Inspector Jahurul Haque of the medical police camp.

“The condition of his wife and son is also critical,” he added.

Police arrested the driver of the lorry and seized the vehicle.

The family was returning to Dhaka from Bandarban.
