A woman was killed as her scarf got tangled with one of the wheels of an auto-rickshaw in front of Jontrail Purbopara Mosque in Nawabganj upazila here on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Begum, 50, wife of late Sheikh Jharu, of Charkushai village in Dohar upazila.
Quoting witnesses and family of the victims, Mohidul Islam, sub-inspector of Nawabganj Police Station said the incident occurred when she was returning home from her daughter’s father-in-law’s house on Monday evening.
Police recovered the body and handed over to the family.
The auto-rickshaw was seized but its driver managed to escape, the SI added.
