People won’t be able to vote if polls held under AL govt, BNP tells EU team

During a meeting with visiting European Union's election exploratory mission, BNP today said if the next parliamentary election is held under Awami League government, people will not be able to cast their votes.

"They (EU delegates) wanted to know about the atmosphere of the next election. We told them that there is no atmosphere of participatory and acceptable election in the country," said Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, standing committee member of the party.

The BNP leader came up with the remark after holding a meeting with the six-member EU delegation at the party chairperson Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office.

The meeting started at 9:00am and continued for around an hour.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Organising Secretary Shama Obayed, standing committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, BNP Chairperson's adviser Ismail Zabihullah, and human rights affairs secretary Asaduzzaman Asad were present at the meeting.
