BNP leaders and activists have been arriving at the party's Nayapaltan headquarters since morning to take part in the grand rally set to start at 2:00pm.
Wearing colourful dresses, the party men have been coming to the rally venue chanting anti-government slogans, carrying posters, festoons, and placards.
Senior BNP leaders are yet to arrive at the spot.
Traffic movement from Kakrail to Nightingale intersection has been suspended as the streets are already full of BNP activists, while the presence of law enforcement agencies is thin in the venue area.
In addition, party members were seen standing in and around the Nayapaltan area in large numbers.
Some have taken to the stage and were seen singing to motivate the attendees.
Thousands of BNP activists gathered in front of Anti Corruption Commission office and Matsya Bahaban intersection aiming to join BNP rally at Naya paltan.
BNP activists from different districts of Mymensingh division gathered in front of the ACC office while those from Dhaka district gathered in front of Matsya Bhaban.
Witnesses said they started to gather from early morning. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will announce the party's next programme from the rally.
